Physiotherapy New Zealand hosts several national-level events each year. These events are an important channel for PNZ to engage with its members and the wider physiotherapy profession.  

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Events and Sponsorship Advisor to join our team!

We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, self-organised, shows initiative, can problem-solve, and think on their feet whilst juggling a range of tasks. 

The Role 

The Event and Sponsorship Advisor will enable PNZ to host several national-level events each year including a biennial Physiotherapy Conference and Business Symposium (held in alternate years), PNZ Leadership Days, and the PNZ Annual General Meeting (AGM). The key purpose of this position is to lead their effective delivery and sponsorship. 

The event management accountabilities of this role include leading the development, promotion, and delivery of PNZ national-level events, as well as the ongoing improvement of processes and systems to do so.  

Sponsorship accountabilities include increasing the annual value of commercial partnerships as a source of revenue for PNZ and managing national-level agreements with commercial partners, as part of but not limited to the biennial Physiotherapy Conference and Business Symposium. 

Further to PNZ national-level events, some PNZ Branches and Special Interest Groups (SIGs) host biennial symposia. Additional accountabilities include providing advice to Branches, SIGs, and other groups of PNZ in their event management, so these align with and leverage national-level events. 

Skills & Experience 

  • Managing and delivering a range of events and activities  
  • Keeping within and managing budgets for events.  
  • Prepare partnership plans that support PNZ’s strategic priorities.  
  • Driving commercial growth, including sponsorship, partnerships and non‑shareholder revenue opportunities.  
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Evaluate and leverage partnerships to drive revenue, audience growth, and content. 
  • Good digital literacy skills  
  • Build strong relationships with potential and existing sponsors while delivering best practice and partnership management.  
  • High level of initiative.  
  • To be a reliable and positive team member with a can-do attitude. 
  • The confidence and ability to liaise and build relationships with a wide variety of people/ sponsors/ vendors/organisations. 

About you  

You’re a confident events professional with strong commercial instincts and the ability to bring multiple stakeholders together, along with:  

  • Proven commercial acumen, including strategy development, budgeting and revenue generation  
  • Strong experience in stakeholder engagement, including working with commercial partners and mana whenua  
  • Highly organised, adaptable, and solutions focused. Comfortable with change, shifting priorities, in a fast paced environment.  
  • Exceptional communication skills, with confidence representing an organisation publicly. 
  • Experience leading and developing large conferences.   
  • You’re strategic, pragmatic and values‑led – someone with sound judgment, resilience and the ability to lead through complexity and change.
